More individualized than a choral setting & more collaborative than private lessons!
Singers’ Workshops @ Teachers College (SW@TC) provides young singers with a unique opportunity to develop their vocal, musical, and communicative capabilities.
Aside from the fun of singing with peers, our participants perform in professional venues, participate in community service opportunities, and receive training from a nationally-recognized voice instructor with a team of professional vocal educators. SW@TC grew out of a partnership with Every Voice Choirs, a not-for-profit music program at Columbia University, and are directed by singing voice specialist, Dr. Jeanne Goffi-Fynn.
SW@TC foster a healthy development of singing voices in various repertoire with positive and engaging performance opportunities. There are three workshops to choose from: Audition Prep in the fall, Music Theatre in the spring, and Young Men’s throughout the year. Auditions are not required, although, a commitment to attendance and practice are expected.
Enrollment is limited in order to provide individualized instruction to every student. The small ensemble setting that the SW@TC provides is a more collaborative experience than private lessons and a more individualized experience than a choir setting. This allows us to tailor instruction to each student’s needs, interests, and well-being.
