Solo & Ensemble Singing for Adults TAB

Fall & Spring terms

Due to popular demand, the Workshops lead its first adult ensemble!  Led byDr. Jeanne Goffi-Fynn and Dr. Colette Young this ensemble is open to all singers.  In this musical journey, singers will be invited to share in the process of solo and ensembles, learning a healthy approach to a variety of genres.  As in all ensembles with Singers’ Workshops, the singers will develop their vocal confidence and musicianship while exploring their authentic sound. 

  • Meets Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00 in person this fall.  

  • January 16-April 30th

  • Final virtual concert.

  • Tuition: $400 per semester

  • Need-based scholarships available.

TBB-ers

(Tenors-Baritone-Basses)

Led by Dr. Goffi-Fynn this program is open to all anyone comfortable singing in the tenor/baritone/bass range. We welcome all singers including transgender, non-binary, and non-gender conforming individuals. It is designed to build confidence and technique as they navigate their voice changes, ages 11-18.

We continue this spring to prepare for a Carnegie Hall appearance in a newly commissioned work by Cyrus Chestnut.  Led by Dr. Mark Shapiro on April 19 with the Cecelia Chorus.  Additional Community Concerts tba. Ages 11–18

  • Weekly meetings on Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm

  • Rehearsals from February 1-April 18 (off on March 21)

  • Joining Carnegie Hall: April 19, 2024

    (Additional rehearsals and dress rehearsals TBA)

  • Tuition: $400 per semester

  • Need-based scholarships available.

Gospel and Jazz Sing!

Fall term Only

Led by Dr. Darryl Jordan, Jazz and Gospel Sing is open to all singers wanting to sing in the Jazz and the Gospel styles. In this musical journey, singers will be invited to share in the process of jazz solos and ensembles, learning a healthy approach to the genre. As in all ensembles with Singers’ Workshops, the singers will develop their vocal confidence and musicianship while exploring their authentic sound. While new to Singers’ Workshops, Dr. Jordan has been assisting the Workshops since its conception and is a leading figure in Jazz Gospel music.

  • Ages 11–18 PLUS Intergenerational participation

  • Meets Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 pm in person with an option to Zoom participate Final concert at Teachers College, Columbia University (525 West 120th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam)

  • FALL enrollment only

  • Tuition: $400 per semester

  • Need-based scholarships available.

Music Theatre Vocal Workshop

SPRING term Only

Music Theatre Styles invites you to sing Across Styles with Special Guests weekly!

Led by Dr. Jeanne Goffi-Fynn, musical theater repertoire is the focus for this workshop. Repertoire will be chosen based on the strengths of each individual singer to provide a range of styles (from "legit" to "pop" and "CCM" as well as “opera”). Selections are semi-staged for performance.

  • Ages 11–18

  • Meets Thursdays 4:30-5:30pm 

  • SPRING Enrollment only Feb 29-May 16

  • Online Option Available

  • Final Performance May 16

  • Tuition: $400 per semester

  • Need-based scholarships available.
